For applications requiring exceptional strength and corrosion resistance
Duplex 2507 is a super duplex stainless steel designed for applications requiring exceptional strength and corrosion resistance.
2507 duplex steel has 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel.
High chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen result in excellent resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion. Likewise, the duplex structure of 2507 provides excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion fracture.
Use of Duplex 2507 should be limited to applications with temperatures below 600°F (316°C). Exposure to elevated temperatures can reduce the strength and corrosion resistance of 2507 duplex stainless.
Duplex 2507 has excellent mechanical properties.
Commonly a light gauge of 2507 can be used to meet the same strength as a thicker gauge nickel alloy.
The result is a weight saving that can minimize overall manufacturing cost.
